Are red flip flops for guys common in Mexico?

Saw a guy I believe he was mexican in red flip flops the other day. Was wondering is that a common product that is sold in Mexico? Is red a common color for guys in flip flops?

Reply:nope. my boyfriend is mexican, he wears flips. he said the only mexicans who wear flips are from the beach, and mostly young guys in their teens or 20%26#039;s...like himself. he said old fashioned mexicans consider sandles and sneakers to be %26quot;not masculine.%26quot; he also said red flips sounds strange, he%26#039;s never seen them.

Reply:No, and in general you would never see a older generation person in Mexico wearing flip flops. In the past those shoes in Mexico were only for your hired help. Today since many Mexicans travel to the US they pick up trends from over here and take them back home. But in general it is not something common.

If so, for one you%26#039;re making a broad stereotype on the guy, he%26#039;s probably Salvadorian or Cuban or even American for all we know... people just don%26#039;t have a %26quot;Mexican%26quot; look (he was Hispanic or of Latin origin, even more so)... maybe he%26#039;s neither... never-the-less he wore red cause he likes it or cause they were on sale or cause it goes with his %26quot;look%26quot;... no different than seeing a guy in South Beach or South Padre Island wearing yellow flip-flops... to each their own... who cares? LOL!
