Slippers or Flip Flops?

ok i live on maui and we all call them slippers (we make fun of people who call them flip flops!) but i hear you people on the %26quot;mainland%26quot; call them flip flops. what do you call them?

u are so lucky u live in Maui, i wish i lived there, i went there 2 years ago and it was gorgeous


anyway, im from northern CA and my family and i call it slippers too, but mostly people out here call it flip flops too and i don%26#039;t get it because in my opinion it%26#039;s kinda hard for me to say it a lot of times.

so yeah i say flip flops but then sumtimes i say slippers cuz lik in spanish it translates to slippers so yeah .. but i use the word flip flopss :D
Reply:i%26#039;m from louisiana and we call them flip flops. and we call the fuzzy ones that you slip on in the house to keep your feet warm and wear with your pajamas, slippers.
Reply:i call them flip-flops...some people (mostly older people) call them sandals..but their not, their flip-flops :0)
Reply:We call them flip flops in So Cali, same in Florida. (I live/d in both.) When I think of slippers, I think of closed-toe, open-back, fuzzy shoes or glass slippers in Cinderella!





A teacher I had in sixth grade called flip flops %26quot;thongs%26quot; in front of the class, and we looked at him all funny. And he was like, %26quot;What, you guys don%26#039;t call them thongs anymore?%26quot; Yeah, good times. :D

Reply:Here we call em Flip Flops. Slippers are those nice warm things that you put on your feet when you are cold, or just don%26#039;t want to put shoes on. Some people (The older generations) call flip flops thongs. But now thongs aren%26#039;t well, an appropriate thing to wear on your feet.





I guess everywhere has its own slang.
